Escape Surf School
Operating since 2004, Escape is one of the longest running Surf Schools in Newquay. Set up by Head Coach Mike Young, a professional surfer who has surfed competitively & for fun all around the world since he was 12 – that’s over 40 years of experience! Recently he’s won British & English national titles and coached the British Junior team & British Adaptive Surfing Team. We’ve won multiple awards and consistently are awarded the TripAdvisor Certificate of Excellence / Travellers Choice Award.
Barefeet Coasteer
No two Coasteer sessions are the same. Every single one is different. The conditions, the tides, the people, all mean that each Coasteer is a unique experience for you, your group and for us.
After you are ready, kitted out and briefed we’ll explore our way along the coast looking for exciting places to make your adventure even more breathtaking.
Imagine swimming through a 50 metre long cave in crystal clear water, climbing into a blow hole chamber, spotting a seal just a few metres away or simply stopping on a ledge to watch the gulls flying by before you leap up to 30 feet into the sea below. This is a typical Coasteering experience.
Fistral Beach Surf School
If you haven’t surfed for quite a while or have never surfed before the group beginner lessons are ideal for you.
You will cover everything from how to carry the surfboard, catching a wave and various ways of standing up. The lesson is broken down to beach and ocean elements with a most of your time spent in the water.
Our unique location of being perched right on Fistral Beach means you will get more time in the sea than other schools can offer.
All our instructors are qualified beach lifeguards and ISA surf instructors with a real passion for surfing. All of our lessons are 2 hours long, and always include use of all of the equipment which you need.
Newquay Activity Centre
With over 20 years of industry experience, our award-winning activities guarantee grin-inducing fun for all. Surfing, Bodyboarding, Coasteering, Paddleboarding & Kayaking; we do it all and more here in Newquay. Cornwall’s adventure capital. Our purpose-designed centre is located in the heart of Newquay just minutes from the town centre. We are a short walk from both Towan and Fistral beach and there are plenty of surf shops, independent retailers and cafes/restaurants nearby.

West Country Surf School offer lessons to any age group, with a maximum of 6 students per instructor. Whether you’re looking for a family surf lesson, want to get competitive in the ocean with your mates, or you want a one-to-one session with an expert, the team at West Country Surf School are experienced surfers and qualified lifeguards who will put you at ease during your session.
