St Piran’s Day: Discover the Boardmasters 2023 Line-Up

In honor of St Piran’s Day, the National Day of Cornwall, we’re celebrating all things Kernow across our line up so far! From our famous 17th century Keg and Pasty pub where you can enjoy your favourite local bands and comedians with a real Cornish pasty in hand, to stellar Cornish acts performing across multiple stages including The View, The Cove and more - there’s so much to explore!  Keep reading to get to know just some of the amazing Cornish acts that are performing at Boardmasters 2023 across 10 stages this summer...

1. Gwenno

Mercury Prize nominated and dual heritage Gwenno has released three critically acclaimed albums, amassing millions of streams on Spotify. Her second studio album, ‘A Place of Memory, was written from St Ives prior to the 2020 Covid lockdowns and recorded entirely in Cornish to celebrate and record the language for generations to come. We don’t have a tear in our eyes, promise!

2 . Red Apple Honeys

The Red Apple Honeys are a 3-piece female close harmony group in the style of the 1940s Andrews Sisters group. Be prepared for stunning vintage jazz and swing, effortlessly intertwined with contemporary hits and a swinging twist. Kazzy, Mazzy & Kezzy combine big band backing tracks with tight vocal arrangements to get you swinging along with them.

3. Webmoms Live Ensemble

Webmoms was formed by Cornwall based producer and multi-instrumentalist Karum Cooper, taking inspiration from early 2000s RnB and hip-hop. With over 2 million Spotify streams and a global audience, you won’t want to miss these golden hour chilled LoFi beats with a high energy 8-piece band. There’s neo-soul, nu-jazz, indie rock and more in store…what more could we want?!

4. Daisy Clark

Since winning of the Best Unsigned Female Award in the British Unsigned Awards back in 2017, Newquay’s very own Daisy has been propelled to stardom. Her sound is inspired by pop, folk and soul music, noted as being a stand-out songwriter. With a brand new single – ‘The Midst of My Madness’ – freshly released, we’re stoked to see her beautiful lyricism live at Boardmasters 2023

5. Not The Beatles

A truly sentimental Cornish origin story: Not The Beatles were formed in 1998 after ‘John’ placed an ad in the local paper, mirroring The Beatles own origin story from 1960. The band members – Nigel, Bill, Tom & Mark – each portray a member of The Beatles with their set list typically featuring the band’s most popular hits for a crowd-pleasing good time. Catch them at The Keg & Pastonbury this year, along with the rest of the bill…

6. Take A Chance On Us - ABBA Tribute UK

We’re so excited for the 6-piece Abba Tribute to return to the Keg & Pastonbury this August for another high energy performance with all the iconic Abba hits. The band members all have a wealth of experience across the musical fields, from headlining festivals to directing musicals. Along with stellar vocals, they’ll also be bringing a light show and dance routines, guaranteed to get you on your feet with that feel good feeling.

7. Jam and Meme

As a homegrown meme maker with a passion for music, Jam and Meme are bringing unmatched DJ skills to the Keg & Pasty again this August. They promise pastry crusts and cider will be flying as they take over the stage for a genre-defying set destined to get you on your feet.

8. Smokey King Shufflers

Formed in 2017 by John ‘Smokey’ Smith, a blues vocalist and harp player, the band has gained recognition for blistering and authentic live performances. Their debut album ‘King Of Clubs’ was a top 40 hit on the Independent Blues Broadcasters Chart soon after release.

9. Easy Life Sound Association

Steve Roberts and Dean Breakwell have been contributing to the music scene in Cornwall for over 15 years. They’ve been friends from their clubbing days as teenagers back in the 80s, bringing over 40 years of experience to their special vinyl DJ performance at Boardmasters once again. Expect a plethora of dance floor classics throughout the decades with funk, disco and house favourites.

10. Hedluv & Passman

Hedluv & Passman are a rap duo from Cornwall, specializing in ‘Casio rap’, a genre where lyrics are laid over simple homemade beats. Launching in 2007, the duo were quick to make the BBC Radio 1 Playlist and will certainly be bringing in huge crowds when they return to Boardmasters this summer.

There will also be awesome sets from Abbie Piper, Absolutely Anytime, Disco Rococo, Jack Britten, Kai Bosch, Andy ‘the Crooner’ Marshall, Morpheus, DELLA, Blonk 182, Tango in the Night – Fleetwood Mac Tribute, Mr & Mrs Blue Sky, Solo Collective DJ’s, Eskimo Nebula, Freshly Squeezed, Small Wonder, Klen, Fluff, Shagrat, The Mighty Howlers, Company B, Roustabouts, The Strutts, Cyderfex and many more!
