SNEAK PEEK - BEHIND THE SCENES OF YOUR SAM FENDER HEADLINER PROJECTION TEASE

Ahead of the official announcement, we were bursting with excitement and couldn’t hold in the news any longer… How better to celebrate Sam Fender’s TEN year Boardies journey than with a BIIIIIIG clue on the stunning Watergate Bay Beach for you lovely lot to find?!

Just before our Second Wave line-up announcement, we grabbed our surfboards and hit the beach with our incredible video crew to undertake our BIGGEST headliner tease EVER: a 50 metre high projection on the cliffs.

THE IDEA

The projection was a celebration of Cornwall and Newcastle, championing Sam Fender’s return to the beach and firm roots in the South West. We overlaid footage from one of Sam Fender’s legendary performances with the iconic Boardies ‘b.’

THE LOCATION

Your very own festival home – Watergate Bay Beach, located right underneath the Boardmasters festival cliffs. 

THE FILMING

The filming took place on a crisp and clear Cornish day – perfect conditions!  The projection was brought to life by our talented Kernow pals Ben Jones, Light Colour Sound & Orange Grove Creative. A special shout out to surfer Toby Pearce, Mia Cockroft and photographer Luke Gartside for all getting involved!

THE TEASE

What better way to soundtrack our tease than with Sam Fender’s chart topping critically acclaimed song, ‘Seventeen Going Under?!’ We were beaming ear to ear seeing you all as excited as we were, with hundreds of you placing your guess in the comments. 

High fives for everyone who guessed it was Sam Fender!
