Fatboy Slim: Ten Tracks That Shaped a Generation

Few artists know how to lift a crowd quite like Fatboy Slim. For nearly four decades he’s been shaping dance culture with big hooks, bold ideas and some of the most memorable music videos ever made. Ahead of his Boardmasters headline in 2026, here are ten tracks and visuals that remind us why he’s still one of the greats.

Right Here, Right Now

Precision-built for festival fields. A slow, steady rise that lands exactly where you want it to. This no.2 UK chart hit is arguably one of Norman Cooks best known songs. The video for Right Here Right Now depicts the evolution of life on the planet and in 1999 Mixmag classed the song as the 10th greatest dance record of all time.

Praise You

Warm, simple, unforgettable. Spike Jonze’s budget dance video helped rewrite the rules of the genre. The video was made on a budget of only $800 and filmed on handheld cameras which helped making it seem like nothing important was being recorded as they had no filming permits.

Initially the video was rejected by MTV as they said that it looked low quality, however it went onto win the award for Breakthrough VideoBest Direction, and Best Choreography at the MTV Video Music Awards‘Praise You’ went to number 1 in the UK and in 2001 the video was voted number 1 of the 100 best music videos of all time in a poll to mark the 20th anniversary of MTV.

Weapon of Choice

Christopher Walken in full flight — literally. A music video that sits in its own hall of fame. The music video came about because Christopher Walken called the director, Spike Jonze, and expressed his desire to dance on film while he was “still young enough to do it”.

The Rockafeller Skank

Instant energy. Instant movement. The definition of a crowd-igniter. On the album You’ve Come a Long Way, Baby, the track is preceded by a recording of a real conversation from a Boston radio station between a DJ and a caller named Brad, who requests “that new Fatboy song… the funk soul brother“.

Eat Sleep Rave Repeat

A modern-era staple with teeth. Built for late nights and louder speakers. Beardyman recorded all of the song’s vocals in one improvised take. A highly successful remix by Calvin Harris boosted the track’s popularity and was featured in its official music video.

Sunset (Bird of Prey)

Laid-back, atmospheric and perfectly named. A golden-hour track if there ever was one. The track heavily samples vocals from the Jim Morrison-led track “Bird of Prey” by The Doors.

Ya Mama

Unapologetically wild. Breakbeats, attitude, and one of the most unhinged videos of the early 2000s. The music video, directed by the collective Traktor, was filmed in Carriacou, Grenada. It depicts people in various scenarios being compelled to dance uncontrollably by the music, suggesting the music has a powerful, almost anarchistic, effect.

Wonderful Night

Playful, upbeat and impossible not to move to. A Friday night in song form.

The BPA – Toe Jam

A left-field gem. Playful, clever and paired with a brilliantly cheeky video that still turns heads. Proof Fatboy Slim’s curiosity for new sounds never went anywhere. Features Dizzee Rascal who will also be making a special guest appearance at Boardmasters 2026!

Gangster Trippin’

Vintage Fatboy Slim: chunky samples, bold beats, and a hook that sticks. Directed by Roman Coppola, the acclaimed music video features furniture sets exploding in slow motion. The concept has been compared to the ending of the film Zabriskie Point. Fatboy Slim makes a cameo appearance in the video.
