Discover the line-up with CLUNK Magazine: Deadletter

We’re teaming up with the good folks at CLUNK magazine for the third year running - champions of new music for fresh ears - to deep dive into some of the incredible acts that you can catch at Boardmasters 2025 this summer.🤘 Come with us as we talk to indie royalty Deadletter...

Deadletter have been building their reputation since the release of their debut single ‘Good Old Days’, back in 2020.

The band’s energetic, jagged edged post-punk sound captured an audience hungry for poignant lyricism and pulsing guitar based music.

Fast forward a few years (and a few more singles and EP) the band came cascading out the gate with their debut full length album aptly named ‘Hysterical Strength’. A full bodied, rich, musical experience that solidified the band as one of the most exciting groups to emerge from the UK scene in a while.

Now, as we look to 2025, we get excited to bear witness to the highly acclaimed band in all its glory at Boardmasters…

Hey! Thank you so much for joining us.. how's your 2025 going so far?

DL: Turbulent, as all good winters are.

Excited for a summer show in Cornwall?

Yeah! I think it’s our first time in Cornwall!

It's your first time performing at Boardmasters (and Cornwall), what can we expect from your Boardies set?

DL: Energy, and maybe even a bass clarinet if you’re lucky.

You're heading here off the back of 2024 debut LP 'Hysterical Strength' but can we expect to hear any new tunes?

DL: Recording and releasing our debut feels like an age ago already, so yes – definitely new tunes inbound.

I imagine the energy between a festival and a gig is very different. How do you like to harness it and does it affect the performance?

DL: It varies, depending on the weather.

What are your festival essentials?

DL: Your favourite (waterproof) boots, large tent with porch area to hide from the world, good people and finally a torch/camping light to avoid scrambling around your tent like a mole.

Can we expect to see you out in the ocean giving surfing a try?

DL: I’m not the best swimmer, so I think I’ll pass…
