8 reasons why we love Stormzy

Stormzy, aka Big Mike, is a multi-award winning household name with dozens of chart toppers under his belt like Vossi Bop, Hide and Seek and The Weekend *round of applause.*

Stormzy, aka Big Mike, is a multi-award winning household name with dozens of chart toppers under his belt like Vossi Bop, Hide and Seek and The Weekend *round of applause.*

If that’s not enough, he’s cemented himself as one of the UK’s most inspiring figureheads with an ever-growing roster of instrumental initiatives. He is a role model for black empowerment & social activism, encouraging his fans to speak openly about their beliefs and do what’s right.

There are a million reasons why we adore our Boardmasters 2024 headliner, but read on for just 8 of them…

1. In June 2020, Stormzy announced the launch of his charity, #MerkyFoundation

He pledged £10 million, over 10 years, to organizations, charities and movements that are committed to fighting racial inequality, justice reform and black empowerment within the UK.

2. His initiative, The Stormzy Scholarship, funds black British students to go to the University of Cambridge

Six black students have been supported already and there’s been  another 2 million in funding just pledged – wow!

3. Stormzy’s award-winning #MerkyBooks is part of Penguin Random House and is dedicated to publishing books that will own - and change - the mainstream.

An annual prize is even awarded to “young, underrepresented, and unpublished writers.”

4. His insane collabs with the biggest names in music

Including Ed Sheeran, Little Mix, Dave and Ghetts – we’re obsessed!

5. His interview with our beloved Louis Theroux made us love him even more

The vulnerable and revealing conversation gave us a glimpse of his childhood and climb to stardom.

6. In 2022 he was awarded an honorary doctorate from the University of Exeter

They championed his work to promote education and fighting racial inequality.

7. He was the first solo Black British artist to headline Glastonbury Festival

Best. Performance. Ever. (Until Boardies of course…)

8. He’s open about his past struggles and has encouraged others to discuss mental health

We were moved watching his candid interview with Channel 4 News, speaking about his mental health struggles whilst recording his debut record Gang Signs and Prayer.

Time is running out to watch Stormzy headline Boardmasters 2024!

With all 3 Day No Camping tickets SOLD OUT and most ticket types on their FINAL TIER, don’t hang about.
