12 things you may have missed at Boardmasters 2023!

That’s a wrap Boardies...we can’t believe it’s all over. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for making this our most special return to Newquay yet. With five days of jam-packed surfing and music celebration, there was sooo much to experience and it was impossible to see it all!  Whilst we’re all suffering heavily from post Boardies blues, here are 10 things you may have missed at Boardmasters 2023…

1. The Boardies ‘B’ got a makeover...

And he’s in his multi-coloured glitter era! We loved seeing all your dreamy group photos with this breathtaking backdrop throughout the weekend. Most picturesque photo opp in the world, right?

2. Florence + The Machine’s jaw-dropping headline set was played by her crew last minute when band members were unable to attend.

They played perfectly and showed us what the Boardies spirit is all about. Goosebumps all round (and a few tears).

3. Cian Ducrot’s packed out secret set at The Cove.

Fresh from landing #1 debut album, ‘Victory’, he delivered a beautifully moving set right after his Main Stage performance. Pass the tissues please!

4. Rap legend Tion Wayne invited super fan Josh onto the stage to join him...

And he won £250 for smashing the set – get him a record deal!

5. Reigning European Champion Yolanda Hopkins managed to fend off her opponents to claim the first-ever three-peat at the Boardmasters Open Animal Pro.

We were cheering on the insane level of talent all weekend – what a time.

6. Radio 1 broadcasting LIVE every day from Watergate Bay

Did you manage to snap a pic at their photo booth with stars like Joesef, Piri, Dylan and more?!

7. The Cornwall Rock Choir brought the sunset energy as hundreds of you joined a packed-out golden hour singalong...

And you all got involved in the loooongest conga line that Newquay has ever seen (we have no proof of this, but it was pretty long 😉)

8. Bingo Lingo brought the party anthems, on stage battles and crowd-pleasing silliness.

PSA to whoever won the air-fryer: we are extremely jealous…

9. The Cornwall Pride bus brought the vibes, the drag queens and the party all weekend...

With an exclusive performance from the iconic Rhianna Rocket … *standing ovation*

10. Brand new stage Fatty’s Yard gave us so many moments of bliss and sunsets for days.

Live reggae music whilst chilling in a hammock with your best pals? An 11/10 time!

11. Shoasis popped off in the Boardmasters Pub, the Keg & Pasty.

With table dancing, pint swaying and plenty of singalongs, Shoasis certainly warmed us up for Saturday headliner Liam Gallagher.

Pssst, did you spot the pub landlord and landlady? BAFTA winning comedian & actor Kernow King was the landlord…

12. The Dockyard bringing the heat

Did you find the cheesy 80’s Disco and abandoned plane? You lot bopped the night away at brand new stages Transatlanic Bar and the Submarine. How incredible were the DJs?!
