BOARDMASTERS ETHOS

Boardmasters started back in 1981, rooted in Cornwall’s surf and music culture. The idea was always simple – to create a festival that celebrates surfing, creativity, community and the amazing backdrop of the Cornish coast. Decades on, that spirit is still at the heart of everything we do.

As the festival has grown, so has our responsibility to keep true to its roots. Boardmasters is run by Vision Nine, a small, independent team passionate about surf culture, music and Cornwall. We make all the decisions about our line-up, our partnerships and how the festival you know and love is run. Every choice we make is guided by our values and by what feels right for the community here in Cornwall.

Since 2018, Superstruct Entertainment has been a partner in Boardmasters. Over time, Superstruct itself has changed ownership – most recently moving from Providence Equity Partners to KKR in 2024. These changes happen at a global level and have nothing to do with how Boardmasters is run. Our team has no involvement in them.

Most importantly no owner, investor or partner – past or present – has ever influenced our values. That will never change.
