Pale Blue Eyes are a young electro-modernist guitar group based in Devon in Britain’s southwest. Their horizon-wide pop and compelling rhythms build on the great German kosmische Musik and on alt-rock sounds at their most artful. Debut album Souvenirs was released on Full Time Hobby in 2022 – and was greeted with much acclaim.
PBE have become playlist regulars on BBC 6 Music, with singles TV Flicker, Globe and Little Gem all featuring. The trio are now looking forward to a busy touring schedule in 2023. They have recently supported bands including Public Service Broadcasting, Sea Power, W.H. Lung, International Teachers of Pop, Penelope Isles and Drahla – and have appeared at festivals including Sea Change, Krankenhaus, Sŵn, Mutations and Supersonic in Paris.
PBE’s first ever release was the double A-side single Motionless/Chelsea in 2021, the first output on their own Broadcast Recordings label. PBE are very much a self-governing, DIY kind of band. The debut single was backed by the kind of sponsors you don’t often find in rock – the enlightened Devon businesses New Lion Brewery, Gro Cycle mushrooms and the Green Funeral Company.
From these resourceful beginnings, the band have moved ever onward. They are now working on tracks for their second album.
