GOLDIE [LIVE]

GOLDIE

Goldie (born Clifford Joseph Price MBE on 19 September 1965) is a pioneering British DJ, producer, visual artist, and actor, celebrated for his impact on jungle and drum and bass since the 1990s. Emerging from UK rave culture, he became one of electronic music’s first breakout stars, known for blending breakbeats, orchestral textures, and emotive vocals.

Initially recognized as a graffiti artist in the early 1980s, Goldie’s passion for hip-hop and breakdancing took him to New York in 1986, where he also crafted gold dental jewellery, a signature element of his style.

His musical career began under the alias Rufige Kru. In 1994, he co-founded the influential label Metalheadz, releasing seminal drum and bass works by artists including Photek, Source Direct, and Lemon D. His 1995 debut album Timeless, featuring the iconic “Inner City Life,” reached number 7 on the UK Albums Chart and is considered a landmark in electronic music. The track was later ranked number 12 on Billboard’s 100 Best Dance Songs of All Time.

Goldie followed with Saturnz Return (1998), a personal double album, and after exploring acting and television, returned with The Journey Man (2017), blending drum and bass with soul, jazz, and downtempo influences.

Beyond music, he has appeared in films like The World Is Not Enough (1999) and Snatch (2000), and on TV shows including EastEnders and Celebrity Big Brother. In 2016, he was appointed MBE for his contributions to music and the arts.

Goldie continues to influence electronic music through Metalheadz and projects like Subjective, a collaboration with James Davidson. He also relaunched Rufige Kru with the album Alpha Omega, featuring CASISDEAD. Touring internationally with his live band, he is currently working on a new studio album for release in 2026.
