It would be easy to imagine 4am Kru were born in a flash of light, but the truth is far more painstaking. Howie and Stu, the core of the Kru, spent years experimenting before their music could explode on the dancefloor. Their live shows—sweat-drenched, chaotic, and euphoric—arrived fully formed, alongside a stream of vinyl and online releases, building a passionate following and even warming up arenas for Chase & Status.
Both lifelong “music dudes,” Howie grew up in a musical family in High Wycombe, exploring guitar, piano, and synths, while Stu honed his DJ and beat-making skills in Edmonton, Canada, absorbing rave culture firsthand. Their paths crossed in London, leading to collaborations and studio sessions in Tottenham. Immersed in vinyl and inspired by Gold Panda’s turntables, they gravitated toward acid house, rave, hardcore, and jungle. One moment of clarity—“let’s make a jungle track”—sparked their signature sound.
The pandemic lockdown allowed them to refine it, releasing tracks monthly, so when clubs reopened, their live shows detonated like TNT. Every note, drumline, and bass hit is forged from years of experience, improvisation, and DIY spirit. Real, raw, and electrifying, 4am Kru captures the pure energy of rave while pushing it forward, with more releases and collaborations on the horizon.
